Upstate and Western New York Fishing Report - May 13 , 2021 Today seems slower again for some. Even without any significant new precipitation, look for flows in the Oak to stay up thanks to strong swamp headwater supplies. There was another couple inches of wet snow and something like a 0.25 inch of rain thru last night. Water temps for now are already in the the high 30sF on the Oak and probably going higher with the forecasted warmup thru the end of this week. Little to no fishing pressure because of the recent events, with the few anglers out enjoying action like this for early Apr 2020 steelhead in the Oak. It was all spoon and meat bite Saturday. Next better chance at real rain is this weekend. Warm-ish temps around 40 F for the end of weekend and begin part of next week. It has been closed to traffic for construction since late April. The other area smaller waterways trending slowly falling flows at around mod and slightly stained. Downstream spots on the Oak for the past weekend may have been tougher on what was dropping and clearing flows, although we did not hear from many guys. There should be a mix of spawning and staged fish in the holes with fresh fish trickling in anytime. Forecast is continued warm thru today and tonight with rain likely today/tonight.

Once pressured, browns may move a little distance from the tails of the salmon but they will still likely be in the closest broken water downstream. With the final weekend of the Lake Ontario Counties Fall Derby approaching, it is important to be in the contest if you are on the water. Fish for bass on Sodus Bay throwing-out worm rigs between the islands at the north end of the bay.
